I enjoy playing Salgados, but the tee time at 2.00pm was too late. We also trailed a slow group so the round took 4 hours 50 minutes and by the time we finished all the earlier groups had left. Would much prefer tee times to be earlier 11.00 to 12.00 and the group less than 40 players so the early starters have not all left when finished.

I did make it clear that my wife was not an experienced golfer and that we would want to play in a 2 ball. They tried to put us in a 4 ball but at the last minute found a 2 ball slot. The booking was otherwise perfect and all the pickups were right on time.

First time playing this course and it was very impressive. The course was in excellent condition throughout and a decent pace of play was kept. The only downside for us was that the kitchens were closed when we finished.our round at 05-30pm so we could not get any food.

Excellent greens that hold shots, fairways in very good condition with nice grass, however course was saturated due to heavy rains recently, so water hazards were overflowing their boundaries and some cart paths were under water. The course offers generally nice views, but holes are a bit monotonous, as fairways are lined with the same palm trees everywhere, all the same height. But would definitely play again at the Easter special rate, but would not pay the regular rate.

We will never play this course again. We were following a six ball all the way round. Caddymaster even came out and told them they couldn’t play a six ball but they carried on. The greens were not in a bad condition, but no one has repaired any pitch marks. The type of people that they let play on this course obviously couldn’t care less. Hundreds of footprints in the bunkers not raked after being used. My recommendation is that you don’t bother to come here.

However, the threat from the starter that if we didn’t we would not be able to play the back nine until 5pm was both un-necessary and intimidatory, our tee off was 9am.

The course was in good condition and represents a test with all of the water on the course. If you are lucky you will see trout leaping from the water on the fresh water holes. However, being one of the cheaper courses and closest to Albufeira it was very busy, which is great for their business. However, they appear to let anyone on the course which makes it slower than it needs to be. Actually we had a two ball in front who had one set of clubs between them. This should have been a red light to the staff as they admitted that it was the first time they had played golf.

A beautiful but challenging golf course due to the water and nature reserve layout for the average golfer. The course has kept well over a very arid summer with very lush fairways and rough areas. However, the greens are not in the best condition which lets it down slightly.

A regular on our trips as a good challenge to control of your golf ball with water on nearly every hole. Tees were a bit sandy, assumed over use as it is always busy. A few unrepared pitch marks on the greens and footprints in the bunkers but that is more about the Muppets playing than the course. Was a windy day, just to add to the challenge.

The course it’s self was absolutely stunning, however the course let a 5 ball out 2 party’s ahead of us, which then meant the party infront had to wait on them and then we had to wait on both party’s at every single hole. Had to wait for around 15 minutes at every tee box until we could start the hole. This resulted in us only being able to play 10 holes before the course closed. Extremely disappointed with this.

Returning for the 3rd time I thought the course was in good condition and had recovered well from last years extremely dry period. Greens were fast and true with just a couple of areas on a few greens that had been repaired and not yet back to their best. Good layout and interesting course and was played in just under 4 hours for a 4 ball. Areas needing work - education of golfers to repair pitch marks as there were many that either hadn’t been done or just crudely flattened. All the palm trees need to be smartened up by taking the old growth off and visually this would be hugely enhanced. However, this was a good experience and will be returning.

Very nice and fast greens. The second cut is too high, and beside the balls are ver difficult to find. Friends of us had rental Clubs. Very bad, that you can only have irons with steel shafts, wich is usable for younger people, but not so healthy for older players. Service in the proshop is friendly and helpful, the service in the clubhouse is so so and the drinks offer is poor.

Hollow tining on the greens which were also full of clumps of sand made them difficult. Which led to us not enjoying our game. We were sent of the 10th tee and it seemed a bit chaotic which led to a slow round also. Were not warned about the work being done, either. We also got harrased by some memebers who said we were slow but it was the group in front and not us.The course had good facilities and some challenging holes with lots of water. We have marked the feedback according to our experience

The check in was really professional and efficient. I found the driving practice area a bit difficult as your practice balls were getting mixed up with other peoples. Practice greens were really good though. The over course was difficult ,especially with a strong wind . I would describe the course as a lake with some grass on it. Overall the course looks and feels over played. The teeing grounds and fairways are in poor condition. The greens are good if a little over watered with large areas water logged. This is a hard course for a resort, especially in windy conditions. The pace of play was good, probably as there is not a time wasted liking for balls as they are nearly always in water, which features on nearly all holes in some form.

Ridiculous amount of people in the course. We had a fourball teeing off on the 10th after we finished the front nine ( this was the START of their round !) This was after waiting on EVERY tee on the front nine. Eventually walked off after 16 after getting to the 17th par 3 to find TWO fourballs waiting to tee off. 4hours + for 16 holes. Which was a pity as the course itself was in good condition.

loads of water :) but not a long course started off ok. but starter changed our tee time with no notice just this group is in front off you i even showed him my booked tee time confirmation but wouldn't change or let us keep to the times even though we were on the tee box. spoilt by the amount of people rammed on together after 5hr 20 min came off after the 16th as 6 groups between 17th tee and 18th green. would not play again pity as a nice course.

No driving range available, you'll need to hit your own golf balls into the nets. The short game practice area consisted of a couple of badly suffered concrete-hard greens for your chips and pitch shots. At least the putting area was a decent one, but it was not the most promising start for a golf day. The course itself reminded me of a lot of what I've experienced in Florida: the course has been built on a flat piece of land, with practically every fairway lined with palm trees and water on either or both sides of the fairway. Multiple tee boxes where in a sad shape, and there was not too much to cheer about the condition of a few fairways, either. Nothing really to complain about the greens, though. You can feel the proximity of the nature reserve; there were lots of various kinds of birds to be seen. All in all, I found this course overpriced in relation to the quality of the golfing experience.

Very good challenging links golf course. It will need to make space for a driving range.But the big problem it has is, taking 5 hours for a round due to many people from different countries and different standards all playing four-ball round.The example is when it has a couple walking,one with a buggy and different standards and then you get a disaster waiting to happen ,in which it did in taking a 5 hour round.I understand that it has been bad weather here and everybody wants to play somewhere.

So here is no driving range to practice, this should people know, the little chip & pitch area is in a very bad condition. They have two putting greens which are very good. The course design is very interesting, variety and challenges at every hole, greens are fast and in good shape. We liked this course very much. But condition of care and maintenance ist very poor and loveless. Golf experience could be much much better, if they (the management) would put More effort into detail, e.g. signboards on every tee, repair ballwasher, fill up bunker sand. Even the caddymaster was bored... No marshall underway, everything could be much better with more customer service. Bummer - course ist so nice.

Oft warten auch beiderseits Wasserhindernisse auf geslicte oder gehookte Bälle. Somit kommt man nicht umhin, seine Drives möglichst gerade zu platzieren. Da die Teiche so häufig ins Spiel kommen, glaubt man zuweilen, eine Bahn doppelt zu spielen.Die Grüns sind coupiert und knochenhart. Die Drivingranch ist verkleinert worden. Zum Einspielen schlägt man die Bälle in ein Netz. Eine Gelegenheit zum Chippen ist auch gegeben. Der Lockerroom ist großzügig gestaltet.

Nice golf course. Middle high difficulty (7/10). Large and well kept fairways, excellent greens. Located on sea side ( not much view on the ocean) it's a flat course where you may find some wind. Water present everywhere but I did' not find it bothering. Reception very efficient and helpful as well as a friendly starter. High quality of the building facilities and carts.

Another great day at Salgados. They do look after the Chez Carlos Golf Society well. The course was very quiet and as we were only a 4 ball, we had a pairs better ball match play. A quick round with no hold ups. However it's that time of year when the greens are hollow tined and dressed, so putting was not at its best. Also the bunkers were very dry and crusty on top. Despite these points the course was in good shape.

This was my first visit to Salgados and I thought that the layout of the course was good and the condition of the greens and fairways were good. It was a difficult day for golf as the wind was gusting between 25/40 mph most of the round but I still enjoyed the course although my golf could have been better. A good test of golf for all handicaps with a lot of water in play at quite a few holes. I will play again on a day with a bit less wind. The reception staff were very nice and the lunch afterwards was very good.

I wouldn't go back to salgados golf. Golfers with times starting on 10 th tee as golfers finishing first 9 meant a queue built up on the 10th tee and back 9 horrendously slow.

Once again Salgados didn't disappoint. Considering the recent rain and thunderstorms the course was in very good condition. Very few soggy fairways or casual water were seen. The greens were naturally soft but in great condition. Running true and even. Round in 4 hrs flat. Great. Some tee grounds have been 'flattened' but there are still some hogs back teeing grounds to be put to rights.

A very enjoyable experience, this course is a pleasure to play. The test is fair and gives the player options at every shot. Very playable for golfers of all abilities. Greens have subtle undulations and are true and receptive. Yes there is water if your off line but there is plenty of room to negotiate the hazards and reach the putting surface in regulation. Great fun for all and a course in good condition

Wind and water play a great part on this pleasant golf course . Low hcp players will have to choose carefull theyr Club from the tee, because there are dog legs not long enought for a driver. Despit been flat and open there are a great variety of holes . Green normally true and well maintained. All in all a great golf day among friends

The course did advertise a driving range, however they don't actually have one?? they had a net out front that could accommodate 1 player with their own balls...but not quite the same thing

My least favourite of the three - and not just because of the numerous water hazards, more the conditions of the fairways with difficult grass which seemed to grab at the ball making irons difficult to hit (one of the Morgado Course Greenkeepers said this was called 'crab grass' and was a problem on Salgados). Great facilities in the clubhouse - the best of all three courses, and the nearest to us, however I wouldn't play again due to fairways.

Salgados is not your typical Algarvian golf course. It is something different blending links style golf on a flat terrain with adundant lakes cross crossed by hazardours ditches. In fact there are very few holes where water does not feature. Added palm trees now line most fairways giving the course that extra definition that it lacked when it first opened. Its wetland setting is picture postcard material with resting migratory birds and shimmering waters against protective golden sand dunes. Salgados' exposed position and lack of shelter and ever looming expanses of water makes it one of the toughest courses to play when the wind blows and today was a severe test of ball control and flight. Good fun nevertheless. Worth a visit..one a calm day!

This week Salgados GC was the venue for our Stableford Competition. The course when first opened in the early 1990's had somewhat of a novel reputation, going away from the traditional Portuguese tree lined course lay out, and providing a very flat course with water hazards on every hole. Although not the longest course, the wind coming off the sea, and the newly planted Palm trees add to the water hazards, to make you think on every shot when playing this course, one wayward tee or regulation shot and there's no second chance as some of the tree lined courses provide.
